“By thought, the thing you want is brought to you. By action, you receive it.”  — Wallace Wattles

I had an interesting experience last week while guiding a client. It is so simple, yet so powerful, which truly reflects what Wallace Wattles wrote, and I quoted here. Wallace Wattles was an American New Thought writer, who was born in 1860 and died in 1911. His teaching truly shifted me.

Last Friday, I was visiting with a client. We were discussing steps and ideas to help her get clarity on a vision she would love to live.  As we were deep in discussion, laughing and bouncing ideas, she stopped me and said, “What you said just now reminded me of a book I read a long time ago. Maybe I should read it again. It’s called the Celestine Prophecy.” I encouraged her to revisit the book. There must be something in it that was meant for her. Something that might be an answer to what she was looking for. She responded, “I don’t know where exactly that book is now, though. I know it’s in my home, somewhere.”

I invited her to experiment. I suggested that she declare her intention and schedule it into her calendar, when she would love to read the book (again). She mentioned she would be traveling for business for six days, starting on Monday. She would love to read it while traveling. She finally decided on Monday at 8:30 a.m. as the time she wanted to start reading it while on the plane. Great! I invited her to welcome what might come, no attachment to how it might transpire. Just listen, and receive. And she did.

The next day, Saturday, at 10:22 a.m., I received a text from her that said, “Look what showed up!” And she shared a snapshot of the book. I asked her to elaborate a bit on how it happened. This is what she shared with me, “We had some construction inside the house, and we are trying to reorganize things as well, thin our stuff out. I was going through my son’s toys to see what I wanted to donate. There was a pile of books next to his toys, and there it was.” I went back to the recording of our session on Friday and looked at the time when she agreed to pencil in her intention – reading the book. It was 10:20 a.m. In 24 hours, that book showed itself to her.

Here’s her takeaway from this simple yet powerful experiment, “Ask, and you shall receive. I can manifest thing with my mind.” Wallace Wattles said it well, “By thought, the thing you want is brought to you. By action, you receive.”

Let me unpack this for you.

She declared her intention when she would like to read the book. She sealed this intention with a conviction by putting it on her calendar. And she opened her whole being to receive – ideas, signs, directions, from the infinite side of her. The side that’s connected to the greater mind, the universe. The most important thing that completed the whole experiment was, she acted on the idea that was ‘given’ to her by organizing her son’s toys. She was open to listen. She took action. And she manifested what she wanted. This is how miracles happen. And we can make this happen more frequently in our life, as long as we understand how result is created.

Humans tend to complicate things, try to figure it out, get entangled in the how it must happen. There’s a much easier way to do it, and tools to utilize, if you’re just willing to follow the system.
